REMOVAL OF FERROUS AND NONFERROUS METALS FROM GLASS CULLET

 

Removal of metal contamination from glass cullet is usually done in two steps: first - removal of ferrous tramp metal and then taking out nonferrous contamination. Ferrous metals are easily extracted from the product flow by traditional suspended (SMPR & SMPA models) or pulley magnets (SMB). If separation is necessary not on the conveyer, but in some gravity flow, plate separators (PSM) with removable protective covers can be used, or self-cleaning magnetic drums (SMBM or BSM) with removable enforced sidewalls.

Removal of nonferrous contamination is performed by SMVT magnetic separators, where eddy current, generated by a magnetic rotor, repels nonferrous metals from the rotor, while allowing the separation product to continue in the flow. SMVT eddy current separators have a number of adjustable units and construction elements for adjusting separation performance to the customer's requirements.

Recommendations:

  • Removal of ferrous tramp metals from the product flow is required before its feeding into the SMVT separator.
